College Creatures ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent college-matching tool at collegecreatures.com. We are not affiliated with any college, university, standardized testing organization, or college counseling service.
Your quiz responses — personality questions, learning style, preferences — are stored in your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage. They are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly trigger a match request. We do not link quiz answers to your identity.
When you complete the quiz and request school matches, your anonymized quiz answers are sent to our matching server to compute results. We do not store these answers on our server after the match is computed. We do not store your IP address linked to your quiz responses.
Premium purchases are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We collect your email address at checkout to deliver your Premium access. We never see or store your credit card number — that goes directly to Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
If you create an account (powered by Supabase), we store your email address and an authentication token. Account creation is optional. You can use the free quiz and receive Premium results without an account.
Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically collects standard server logs including IP addresses and request timestamps. This data is used solely for infrastructure operation and security. We do not use third-party analytics tracking (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel).

College Creatures does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Because the quiz is anonymous by default — quiz answers stay in your browser and are not linked to your identity — the core tool does not collect personal information from any user, including those under 13.
If a user under 13 purchases Premium, we collect an email address through Stripe's checkout. We ask that users under 13 obtain a parent or guardian's permission before purchasing.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us personal information without your consent, please contact us at privacy@collegecreatures.com and we will delete it promptly.
We use browser localStorage and sessionStorage to save your quiz results and creature reveal so you can return to your matches. This data never leaves your device unless you take an action that sends it to our server (like requesting a match).
We use a single HTTP-only cookie for Premium authentication (to verify your paid access when you visit Premium pages). This cookie does not track you across other websites.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics cookies.

We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Premium authentication uses cryptographically signed tokens (HMAC-SHA256). We do not store plaintext passwords. Payment data never touches our servers — it is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of College Creatures after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
